Good Morning!
Welcome or welcome back to my Newsletter! As we sip on our morning coffee/tea, let’s chat about music. This weekend one of my friends and I are visiting our close friend in Martha’s Vineyard. The road trip to the ferry is about 2 hours, so let me tell you there will be music playing the whole way. For us it has been the classics like Fleetwood Mac(we are particularly down bad for Stevie Nicks), Van Morrison, Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift (yes she is a classic, deal with it), and many more that have brought us together music wise. There’s just something about driving in the summer time, windows down to Silver Spring by Fleetwood Mac that just doesn’t compare.

Aili’s last gig in central MA, in August, before returning to school in Boston.
If you tuned in last week, we came to the conclusion that summer is for Taylor Swift and country music. With Morgan Wallen’s Last Night holding steady at Top Charts #1, Luke Combs’s cover of Fast Car at #2 and Taylor Swift’s Cruel Summer at #3, we just can’t get enough! I’m also not in the least surprised to report that the soundtrack from Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is all over the top 15. Might I add, what a beautiful movie that portrayed women honestly and with grace. I laughed, I cried, I ate popcorn, it was a great watch, seriously. On that note, let’s talk music.
The power of music is actually incredible; For instance, a song could play that I haven’t heard in a while and it will catapult me back to a specific moment in memory where that song was playing. Suddenly, I’m standing in that room, talking to those people, the smells in the air are crisp and the emotions are heavy. Music is time travel. Simple as that. It is the utmost form of expression that I personally have ever experienced. Now it’s your turn to contemplate. How has music allowed you to express yourself? Go ahead and put on a song that makes you feel nostalgic, as you walk through life don’t forget to stop and listen to the music.
I hope to see you at my gig next Sunday, have a fantastic week!
Love Always,
Aili Bauman <3
